The Sowing Change Project in Kajiado County, implemented by Inuka For Community in partnership with CARE International, WWF Kenya, the County Government of Kajiado, and the Kenya Meteorological Department, empowers women and youth to lead climate action. The project strengthens their voices in climate governance, access to climate information, policy influence, and locally led climate solutions.
Women have moved from being excluded to leading climate governance through petitions, county forums, and public participation, influencing policies on water, agriculture, and natural resource management. This reflects Inuka’s vision of women as powerful agents of change, not passive victims.
Through radio talk shows and digital platforms, women climate champions became trusted public voices, translating complex climate information into local language and challenging gender norms by showing that women are credible climate leaders.
Women and youth developed bankable proposals for water projects, tree nurseries, and green enterprises, opening real pathways to climate finance and proving that grassroots women can design, lead, and manage sustainable climate solutions.
